One of the few active distilleries in the Lowlands, its name means “corner of the field” to emphasize its location between the city, Glasgow, and the countryside leading to Loch Lomond. Founded in 1823 but registered two years later, it is the only distillery to use triple distillation creating malts that are very suitable for blends. Fun Fact: Some documents show that in 1800 there was an illegal distillery called Duntocher, which could be the predecessor of the current one. From some sources, it seems that it was founded by Irish, who fled due to famine, explaining the use of triple distillation.
