Founded in 1896, it is located in Keith and its first distillation dates back to 1897. It closed a few years later due to the decrease in demand for whiskey and then reopened in 1903-1904, but not for long. In 1914, due to the war, it was closed along with many other distilleries due to the lack of barley. In 1923 John Dewar bought and reactivated the distillery. Fun Fact: Its name means “big burn”, probably referring to the Burn of Auchinderran river, the water source used. Nothing remains of the original distillery, it was completely rebuilt in 1972.
