Distillery from the debated date: it seems that in 1798 it was built by John Stewart and Robert Robertson but closed almost immediately. Purchased by Alexander Connacher & Co in 1825, it passed among many owners until its closure in 1932. It was then purchased in 1933 by Arthur Bell & Sons and rebuilt in 1949. Official bottling is rare to find, one of the most recent belongs to the collection ” Flora “&” Fauna “as much of its production is the heart of the Bell blend. Curiosity: There was a first distillery, called “Aldour” from the river and water source Allt Dour burn, which translates as “river of the otter”. The same otter that appears in the “Flora e Fauna” bottling.
