Built in 1897 by Thomas Mackenzie. former owner of Dailuaine and Talisker. Unfortunately it closed after nearly a year and remained so for two decades. Bought by DCL in 1916, it was reopened in 1919 but closed again in 1925 had to wait until 1955 to be rebuilt and reopened. Closed in 1985, it was sold to United Distillers. In 1989 it was purchased by Allied Distillers who suspended it in 1998. In 2005, permits were given for demolition, but has not yet been carried out to date. Curiosity: It was built with different materials compared to other distilleries in the same area and time to make it resistant to fires
