Daughter of a first distillery dismantled in 1901, it was born in 1963 by landowners Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smit together with merchants and blenders Charles Mackinlay & Co. and the architect William Delmé-Evans (who had already founded Tullibardine and in the future will build Glenallachie). Bought in 1985 by Invergordon, which were bought by Whyte & Mackay in 1993 and finally in 2007 by United Spirits. Fun fact: when the first “Jura” was founded in 1801 it was called “Small Isles Distillery It has a very particular micro-climate, so much so that it is possible to see palm trees around the distillery Along with Bunnahabhain and Glenmorangie it has the tallest stills in Scotland
