Built in 1896 by the Tamdhu Distillery Company, it gave birth to the first distillate a year later. A few months later she was accused of withdrawing large quantities of water and dumping waste into the River Spey, accusations seem unfounded. Shortly thereafter the company merged with the Highland Distillers Company, closed from 1911 to 1913, had a considerable increase from 1920 to 1925 but was suspended in 1928.
