THE BLACK CAT SERIES
Glen Ord, a great North Highland distillery, has a bizarre feature. It is one of the two distilleries in Scotland to malt all the barley it needs at home. In fact, it is here that a large malthouse is located, used by Diageo to also supply some of the other distilleries in the group. But what does Glen Ord’s Single Malt taste like? Beautifully highlanders! This 13-year-old single cask, which contained Bourbon in its previous life, has a very strong mineral side, hints of hay and heather, and intriguing notes of graphite. The fruit has the shape of pear, lemon and unripe plums. In the mouth it remains sharp, between grapefruit, licorice stick, hazelnuts and an oxidized touch. Iridescent, sometimes coastal and surprisingly with a hint of peat.
